This week saw a number of new films- Jimmy Sheirgill’s `A Flat`, the Tanushree Dutta starrer `Raama-The Saviour` and `Dunno Y... Na Jaane Kyun`. With the Diwali releases, especially `Golmaal 3` still quite strong, the new incumbents have not found any takers.
| Golmaal 3 | Verdict: Awaited | Weekly Earnings: UK£259,611 ; US$626,432 | Total Earnings: UK£259,611 ; US$626,432 | PB Rating: 8.0 out of 10 | Public Rating (by 205 unique users): 4.54 | Director: Rohit Shetty | Producer: Dhillin Mehta | Music: Pritam | Lyrics: Kumaar | Starring: Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Kunal Khemu, Ratna Pathak, Mithun Chakraborty, Johny Lever, Sanjay Mishra, Vrajesh Hirjee | Genre: | Recommended Audience: | |
The much awaited Diwali battle between Ajay Devgn’s `Golmaal 3` and the Akshay Kumar starrer `Action Replayy` was expected to be in favour of G3 but not as one sided as it actually turned out to be during the opening weekend. `Golmaal 3` has also done very good business (for the star cast) in the Overseas. |
| Action Replayy | Verdict: Awaited | Weekly Earnings: UK £154,911 ; US$300,000 | Total Earnings: UK £154,911 ; US$300,000 | PB Rating: 7.0 out of 10 | Public Rating (by 322 unique users): 8.14 | Director: Vipul Shah | Producer: Blockbuster Entertainment, Hari Om Entertainment, PVR Pictures | Music: Pritam | Lyrics: Irshad Kamil | Starring: Akshay Kumar, Aishwarya Rai, Aditya Roy Kapoor | Genre: Comedy | Recommended Audience: General | |
After a somewhat disappointing Friday `Action Replayy` picked up substantially on Saturday only to see indications of a fall on Sunday itself. Surprisingly, despite the presence of stars like Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, the film lost to `Golmaal 3` even in the Overseas with very ordinary collections. |
Rakht Charitra | Verdict: Flop |
Weekly Earnings: Rs. 1.75 crore | Total Earnings: India Rs. 8.50 crore |
After a below par opening week Ram Gopal Varma’s `Rakht Charitra` saw a huge fall in the second. The film will now have to depend on the Telugu version to take it to safety.

Concluding yet again with Shankar’s Rajnikanth starrer `Robot`, the film keeps moving on, even in its Hindi version. Of course the Tamil version `Endhiran` is a blockbuster. The film (Hindi, Tamil, Telugu) is a huge Overseas success.
