Vamshi "Dash against Destiny" - movie review

Title – VAMSHI, Banner – Chakreshwari Combines, Story, Direction – Prakash, Music – RP Patnaik, Cinematography – Krishnakumar, Cast – Puneeth Rajakumar, Lakshmi, Nikitha, Ravi Kale, Avinash, Rajendra Karanth, Komalkumar, Sunderraj, B.Jaya and others.

The much expected film from the family of Dr.Rajkumar – 'Vamshi' is good in parts. The action saga has reached its peak with the long sharp edge weapons doing lot of work for the first time in Puneeth Rajakumar film. Is he following his elder brother Shivanna in holding sharp edge weapon? The future films of Puneeth Rajakumar would answer this question.

Puneeth Rajkumar in VamshiComing straight to the good elements there is some powerful action, equally powerful performances from Puneeth, Lakshmiji and Nikita Tukral. The human emotions between mother and son are quite impressive but what is not impressive is the excess of fights and the story content. When what is not possible according to law books why it should be tried to give this kind of film? Take for example the big rowdy son aspiring to become a cop. Rule do not permit but why the director should rule on the same line and add more salt to the already spoilt wound? The deviation for better reformation of 'Vamshi' once he is rejected the job of cop would have been highly appreciated from the director.

From Milana to Vamshi there is a great deviation from director Prakash but it is not constructive.

Vamshi under the tutelage of his mother living in an ordinary house is given all care to become a police officer. The rejected mother the dejected son wants to carve a fresh life because a big rowdy is responsible for Vamshi's birth. The clever and intelligent Vamshi is a hot headed youth and he develops anger very quickly. Making use of this the DCP Reddy in the interview flares up Vamshi's mind as he finds Vamshi would ruin is position in the department. But Vamshi locked in a murder case is bailed out by an MLA and instead of becoming a cop he becomes a rowdy. The society respects him, the police salute him the political bosses fear him but mother does not care for the son Vamshi.

Vamshi wanted his life to be that of a cop not in this position he is today. Yet his mother tries to bring him to the right direction and want to see that Vamshi do not follow his father. Vamshi's mother narrates the horrible tale of her life that she had not expressed to Vamshi's fiancé Sharada and that perturbs Vamshi's mind. The mother of Vamshi after hearing from DCP Reddy that Vamshi will have dog's death on the roads she decides on an extreme step. Vamshi comes to meet his mother to tell her that he is surrendering. Even before that his mother mixes the poison and feeds him. Not happy with Vamshi's decision the cops, underworld and politicians join together. In a pitiable condition Vamshi swallows salt and water takes out the poison from his body and fight vigorously to finish off everyone. He selects the profession of teaching instead of policing and thus lives happily with his mother and wife Sharada.

The power star Puneeth is punching, peerless and perfect for the role. He has all the dimensions in this film and the right actor for the right movie. Lakshmi the veteran actress playing mother is spectacular. Nikitha is Chaand Ka Tukda. Ravi Kaale is absorbing.

Amalu Amalu….Jothe Jotheyali.. Dr.Rajakumar song Thaayi Thaayi from 'Hoovu Hannu' used in this film - well done songs. KK's cinematography at places is not bright and the backgrounds for song sequences do not match with the characters costumes color.

Fare for action lovers a treat for mother and son sentiment lovers!
