QUICK REMEDIES Some practical and easy solutions for a cleaner home, better health and natural beauty

BEAUTY WISE

REGIME CHANGE

When you're pregnant, make these adjustments to your regime.

* Wash your face with a gentle cleanser in the morning, at night, and after exercise (when you may be sweaty).

 * If you have breakouts, switch to a light oil-free moisturizer, which will hydrate your skin without clogging your pores.

* Drink lots of water.

 * Change your pillowcase often to prevent breakouts.

BROKEN CAPILLARIES

Pregnancy - and the effort of childbirth - can burst small blood vessels and result in broken capillaries on the face.

Massage a few drops of rose oil onto broken capillaries twice a day. Rose oil constricts small blood vessels and reduces redness.

PALELIPS

Some pregnant women find that their natural lip colour deepens; for others, it's a washout. If your lips are pale and the idea - or smell - of lipstick sets your stomach churning, dip a wet Q-tip into cherry Jell-O powder and stroke it on your lips for a rosy stain.

WASHED OUT

Apply cream blush, bronzer, or powder with undertones of pink or gold.

SLEEPY TIME

You're tired, and it shows. The best way to get instant lift is to use an eyelash curler or curling mascara. Curly lashes draw attention upward.

SMUDGE-FREE FRINGE

Waterproof mascara can be hard to remove. To minimise that problem, first apply one coat of regular mascara, then top with a coat of waterproof mascara.

FAKE AWAKE

A dab of cheek gel on the apples of the cheeks is the best way to fake awake. Powder blush or foundation can make tired, dull skin look duller.

TIRED EYES

To look alert, stroke a light, neutral eye shadow over the top lid with a brush. Highlight your brow bone with a pale shadow (or shimmer, for evening), which will also focus attention away from the droops.

EYE STRAIN

Keep the area underneath your eyes moist and supple with an eye cream.
