Chikusenso Mt. Zao Onsen Resort & Spa

Chikusenso Mt. Zao Onsen Resort & Spa is cradled at the foot of Mt. Zao in one of the most beautiful regions of Japan, where the colors change with the seasons.  Nestled between two rivers and the bamboo groves of the northern mountains, it is a picturesque resort with 5-story and 3-story rooms and suites.   In the true spirit of “Omotenashi” (Japanese hospitality), the hotel offers guests incomparable service and attention to detail.  Perhaps the most unique feature of Chikusenso is the number of private indoor and outdoor Onsens.  Guests can either soak in the healing Hinoki tub or enjoy the outdoor hot tubs in the spaciousness among the trees, under the moon and stars.

The Japanese restaurant Kamajin serves authentic a Kaiseki-style menu. All ingredients are carefully selected by the master chef from local sources.  Also on offer are teppan-yaki of extra fine Sendai Beef and other seasonal food.

To provide a more holistic approach to wellness, Chikusenso features a multi award-winning Spa Botanica and Seven Eden Wellness Gym. Guests can also meditate on the river deck, fishing, play golf, learn a Japanese handicraft, or visit the blueberry farm, cheese factory, and sake factory. There are also popular ski resorts nearby. The Zao Mountain Range offers trekkers a variety of magnificent vistas, including Okama Crater Lake with its emerald green waters, the Wall of Snow that stands 10 meters tall along the highway in early spring, the fabulous fall foliage, and unusual formation of snow monsters called Juhyo.

Two meeting and conference rooms.  Lounge and library with some 200 books depicting Japanese history, culture, architecture, and lifestyle.
